Lawnmowin’
Interesting story the other day in The Wall Street Journal about why people who work in offices are big on lawnmowin’.
Sitting on your ass all day makes you appreciate a hands-on job like cutting the grass. Former House Speaker John Boehner even developed part of his regular-Joe image by showing himself mowing his lawn. He says, “Lawnmowing is taking time for yourself. Cutting the grass will be the smallest of benefits. You’ll get a lot more out of taking your time and forgetting all kinds of things, and it’s healthy for you.”
Boehner uses a pull-start Toro. I use a pull-start Husqvarna. Got it from Taft Power Equipment in Holyoke. Local, independent and the best lawnmower and snowblower place around.
My next-door neighbor cuts her lawn and whistles while she works. That’s pretty neat, Bucko.
Anyway, a few years back we were producing a series of videos leading up to Gainer getting married. We were working with the Log Cabin/Delaney House and called the series 413 Wedding. In one of the episodes, Gainer bought a new lawnmower, and I helped him set it up.
Check out the video and see what kind of mowin’ wisdom I threw at him. The best thing about cutting the grass? When you finish, you crack open a can of lawnmowin’ beer. I go for a Coors Banquet or a Labatt Blue. They go down smooth.
Keep your dukes up.
