Diamonds Are Forever

Hey, sometimes ya gotta find an upbeat story in down times. The other day, Gainer sent me this video about a blind baseball player. What the Christ? This guy’s got grit.

Zach Ship lost his sight two years ago, right as he was getting engaged. Whoa, Jackson! But the bloke went ahead and got married anyway.

In high school, Zach was an outstanding baseball player all four years. Later, at NYU, he excelled in shot put and discus. That ain’t easy, Sansabelt Sibilia. Then, out of nowhere, Zach suffered inflammation in his brain that led to a rare condition causing total loss of sight. But that didn’t stop him. The guy loves to cook. He calls it cooking without looking.”

In NYC, Zach works for Harry’s, the cool personal care company, as Director of Finance IT. I don’t know how he does it—blind baseball player and advocate for people with disabilities. In a Joker Mag story, they said, “This guy finds happiness in hard times.” And they ended it with, “It’s something we can all strive for in this crazy whirlwind of life.”

Keep your dukes up.
