Caisse Study
Here’s the lowdown. More and more kids are being diagnosed with ADHD and being prescribed Ritalin and Adderall. The number of adults on these medications has increased as well. Big Pharma has figured out how to keep us on these drugs for life.
You know the behaviors. Talking in class, not paying attention, getting into mischief. Kids are bored and have a lot of energy, especially since we really don’t have recess anymore. So we send them to the doctor and, sure as shootin’, they have ADHD. On average, that’s about a 15-minute diagnosis. Get 'em on the drugs quick. I’ve always said those drugs are chemical warfare on the brain. Let a kid be a kid, for Christ’s sake. Well, pay attention to this. Here’s something that could help those kids: ping pong. Eddie Caisse, with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, has these ping-pong sessions going in Holyoke schools. Eddie’s done more for local kids than just about anybody I know. One of the things often said about kids diagnosed with ADHD is they can’t focus. Well, guess what ping pong is all about? Focus.
Eddie says a lot of kids struggle with concentrating and believes activities like ping pong can help improve classroom attention. The way I see it, every elementary school should have a ping-pong table. If a kid is acting up or can’t focus, send them to the table and let them work it out. This would be a great sponsorship opportunity for banks or local businesses. Buy the tables and put your logo on them. Cool look. Ping pong instead of zoning kids out on drugs. Way to go, Eddie Caisse. Keep your dukes up.
