You know what? An A-Team movie probably would have been enough all by itself. Stack the complete TV series boxed set (in easily the best package design ever) on top of the movie release and you’ve got yourself one hell of a June. We love it when a plan comes together.

If you’ve been hearing buzz about tomorrow’s DVD release of the legendary T.A.M.I. concert and trying to figure out what all the hubbub’s about, here’s what you do: You start with the Sunday Times feature story on the concert and the 46 years of jumping through hoops it took to make it available for most of us to experience. And from there, you follow the links to the slideshow and video segments that illustrate the story on line (great use of the web’s potential by an old media company, by the way). Or you just think about this: 1964; the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, James Brown, Chuck Berry, the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Gerry & the Pacemakers … 12 acts total, all on one stage and virtually all turning in performances that have been legendary, but inaccessible, ever since. Now you get it, right?

You’ve got to respect a guy who made the coonskin cap a hot seller. Fess Parker, who died yesterday at age 85, won his fame playing Davey Crockett for Disney, and later portrayed Daniel Boone for six seasons on NBC. Here’s the “Ballad of Davy Crockett” for your listening pleasure (try not to focus on the racism).

You know what we think when we read about curling clubs gaining members as a result of the Olympics? No, not “What’s wrong with these people?” More like, “Duh.” Yeah, we should have seen it coming. Why? Because we stood around the office, just like everyone else, and talked about Olympic curling. Mostly we talked about how it looks kind of fun. And, you know, we’ve got this thing about how people like fun. Or, as you may have seen us put it before, fun sells. So what’s next? Well, here’s a thought: Curling isn’t something you can do just anywhere. But shuffleboard is. How much you wanna bet you’re reading about shuffleboard bars before the summer’s out?

Go ahead and file this one under The Gut was so right it borders on the ridiculous. We’ve been talking about the potential of ping pong (and all sorts of other basement games) for about as long as anyone can remember. It’s good to see someone else finally figured it out. It would have been nice if it had been one of the dozens of people we’ve talked to over the years, but you can’ win ‘em all.
